It had been a long journey, but at last he found himself at the door. It was the same door as a year earlier, yet different. It seemed to regard him knowingly, as if saying, “Once you pass over my doorstep, there’s no turning back.” Jack Rory was not sure if he was ready. But the time had come. The season was here.
After confirming that not a creature was stirring, Jack Rory slipped quietly through the door. Immediately, he sensed he was not alone. He felt warm breath on his neck and whirled around to find…
“I knew you’d be back,” she said breathlessly.
“Destiny, I…,” Jack Rory stuttered.
“Shhhh, no words. Not yet,” she murmured seductively. Swiftly mounting her Pegasus, she motioned for Jack Rory to join her in the saddle.
“Do you believe in fate, Jack Rory?” she asked, spurring their steed forward.
As they galloped off into the gloom, Jack Rory knew there was only one answer to her question.
“No,” he replied. “I believe in Destiny.”
